The cancellation of the Wonderfeel performance during the Helsinki Festival was, of course, a great pity. However, the programme planned for the festival will be heard in a concert, where the listeners will be seated in three blocks in the Musiikkitalo concert hall.
The concert programme takes you to Italy and its early baroque era. Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) hardly needs any presentation. We will hear, among other things, his well-known toccata & La Musica's prologue from the opera L’Orfeo (1607). There are as many as three female composers in the program: Leonora Duarte (1601-1678), Isabella Leonarda (1620-1704) and Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677), the latter of whom has a cantata Hor che Apollo from 1644 selected for the program.
Length 1 h (no intermission)
