TAKE THE MILKY WAY

The Finnish Baroque Orchestra and the Helsinki Chamber Choir invite you on a journey that reaches from the human soul to the stars. This unique programme brings together the timeless beauty of Baroque choral music with the meditative soundscapes of contemporary composers.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s motet Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf opens the concert with a message of comfort and spiritual strength. Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s Prayer continues in a contemplative mood, its serene simplicity offering space for reflection. Swedish composer Karin Rehnqvist’s Take the Milky Way then takes us to the cosmic scale, weaving shimmering sounds into a musical image of our galaxy.

After the intermission, the evening concludes with Jan Dismas Zelenka’s magnificent Litaniae Omnium Sanctorum, a festive and deeply moving litany of all saints that showcases the composer’s inventive and expressive style.
