In 2009 Cantores Minores started a new concert tradition, in which the choir once a year performs a requiem or other similar major work for mixed choir on All Saints’ Eve. The first work was W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, and after that the concerts have featured among others J. Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, J. S. Bach’s Mass in B minor, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s oratorios Elias and Paulus, G. F. Händel’s oratorio The Messiah, J. Haydn’s The Creation and D. Cimarosa’s Requiem.
In the 15th anniversary concert of the concert series, Mozart’s Requiem returns after a ten year long pause. The choir started rehearsing the work during the summer camp in the beginning of August, and the result of an intense, three months long rehearsal period will be revealed in the beginning of November. The concert programme also features Markus Fagerudd’s work De profundis, commissioned by the choir as the second premiere of the choir’s project 75 minutes of motets, with the 75th anniversary season 2027 in mind. Last spring, the choir performed the first work of the series, Johanna Almark’s work Animos revocate (Renew Your Courage).
