Cantores Minores first performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in 1967, in celebration of the choir’s 15th anniversary, under the direction of Professor Heinz Hofmann. The oratorio returned to the choir’s repertoire in 1981, when it began to be performed annually.
The 1991 Christmas Oratorio concert sold out, and its popularity has continued ever since — Helsinki Cathedral fills to capacity every year. This year marks the ninth time the oratorio is performed in collaboration with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra.
