Harju Chamber Choir’s autumn season celebrates the choir’s 50th anniversary, culminating in Johann Sebastian Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor, offering listeners the timeless power of Bach’s music.
The Mass in B minor is one of the greatest and most magnificent works in the Western choral tradition. Bach composed and assembled it over several years, completing the final version in the 1740s. The work is considered the culmination of his life’s musical achievement, bringing together the finest aspects of his artistry. Though a Catholic mass, it is exceptional among Bach’s compositions. It was never intended for complete liturgical use, but rather as a kind of musical testament.
