Is it possible to hear numbers? Or see sounds? In this instance, concertgoers are not only listeners, but also viewers and thinkers. Although nowadays many people consider music and math to be opposites, many advances in music have their origins in mathematics. Thanks to "maths", music history is full of compositional developments such as canons and counterpoint, tools such as music notation and general bass figures, and even essential developments in individual instruments, such as temperaments and string instrument effects.
Mathematics has also made it possible to visualise music in both natural and technological ways, which allows us to see in how musical performance and mathematics affect each other in real time. Come experience this multi-sensory performance, in which some of the world's most beautiful music can be heard in a brand new context!
Duration: 1 h (no intermission)
