The male librettists of the 18th-century had an obsession with fierce, beautiful, pagan women, and composers such as Händel and Hasse happily obliged with equally ravishing music. Together with the fantastic soprano Johanna Rosa Falkinger, we go East and West in search of some of the most beautiful, virtuosic and sensual arias of the 18th century, mixed with spectacularly and exotically scored orchestral music from the period.
