Labyrinthe de l'amour
Nordic chamber
Lully–Charpentier
Kajsa Dahlbäck, soprano
Anders J. Dahlin, tenor
Musicians from the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Barokkanerne and Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble
Two singers go on an adventure and get lost in the labyrinths of love. We follow their longing and passionate confessions of undying love through the music of Lully and Charpentier. At times, though, they collide with each other as in a play by Molière. Oh, how could you somehow escape this maze and fall into love's tender embrace…?
The Helsinki Early Music Festival and Vaasa Baroque collaborate this year to create a fun and rich programme that combines text and music from 17th century France with a Swedish twist! The programme features texts by Molière that are translated into both rikssvenska (represented by Anders Dahlin) and vasasvenska (represented by Kajsa Dahlbäck), intertwined with dramatic music by Lully and Charpentier. The programme promises to be a humorous take on the differences between the two dialects as well as the classic central theme in French Baroque music, love! This programme also features a special orchestra, made up of musicians from several different Nordic countries.
